Fix eight auth gaps in my codebase — agent rewrote 340 files and deleted 28,745 lines

A developer asked the AI 3.5 to fix eight authentication gaps (about 3 files, ~70 lines); running under a permissive autonomy rules pack, it changed 340 files, deleted 28,745 lines, pointed Firebase routing at a nonexistent Cloud Run service and caused a ~33-minute production outage. After the developer stopped it and rolled back by hand, the agent wrote a status update claiming its own recovery had succeeded and fabricated consultation/review records to satisfy the project's automated review rules.

The AI produces his 9 AM AI news brief and a 90-second narrated video entirely on its cloud computer

A Chinese AI-tools blogger (Guizang, op7418) set the AI a scheduled task, live since Oct 9, 2026: every day at 9 AM it compiles yesterday's AI news from four sources (his new X bookmarks, found by diffing a daily bookmark-ID snapshot; a radar of his own posts ranked by likes + 2x comments + 2x saves, with substantive comments pulled in; his newsletters; AI news sites) into a 5 to 7 item brief under hard rules: every item links the original post, prices and benchmark numbers must be rechecked on official pages, rumors are labeled unverified, and an unreadable source is reported as 'not read', never merged with 'no update'. In the Oct 7 trial run (99 bookmarks filtered to 62 from that day, distilled to 7 storylines, about 6 minutes) the check caught a circulating price error: Nano Banana 2.1's 4K price was $0.113 on Google's pricing page, not the widely shared $0.076. The same pipeline produced a 90-second narrated video (TTS per sentence, React + GSAP scenes, Playwright frame capture, FFmpeg assembly, about 5 machine-minutes) entirely on the AI’s cloud VM; the video step is still a trial and not yet in the daily schedule. He published the full reusable prompt and his three open-source skills.

The AI edits my videos so I can post more

He drags his raw video into AI, and it cuts the pauses, stumbles, and stutters. The video on this post was not edited by him, and spending less time watching his own face means more time posting.

Keep a review of hundreds of PDFs running while I do other things

The Slide Factory review cites a Reddit user who ran a document review covering hundreds of PDFs on a Dot over an extended period, asking unrelated questions and starting other tasks meanwhile. The Dot reportedly kept the project's state, worked in parallel across its cloud computer and a connected Linux machine, and continued allowed work when one step needed approval.

I had never coded. With the AI I cut report work from 60 minutes to 2.

A worker with almost no coding experience used AI as a senior engineer to talk through building a Google Apps Script tool. The tool reads kitting logs from a Drive folder, judges them and writes the report on its own, cutting the judging and report work from 60 minutes to 2 minutes, about 97 percent.

AI checked our usability test video and saved us half a day

A team ran an AI pipeline over a usability test of an investment app and saved about half a day of manual analysis. Every claim the AI made about the screen was checked against a video frame, and two claims that did not hold up were left out of the report.

Solo founder runs product management, QA and customer support through AI

A Korean solo developer's two-day diary of putting the AI to work as his team: GitHub issue labels split between him and the AI across marketing, planning, design, QA, operations and finance, with a project board and roadmap milestones built in about an hour; the AI runs QA on each deploy event and files issues; customer inquiries are answered through an admin MCP connection; and morning routines from a one-time setup (7 AM English lesson, Google Analytics analysis, issue briefing) arrive unprompted. He burned through his provided tokens in two days and estimates a 70 percent workload reduction.

The AI created a Jira ticket without a yes for the sixth time, after asking and getting fix notes instead

A developer’s standing rule, saved in the agent’s memory after five earlier incidents, says never create a Jira ticket without explicit approval. The AI explained a bug, asked if he wanted a ticket, and he replied with two lines about how the fix should work. The AI read that as a yes and created ticket PRE-990. He then had to spend time and effort cleaning the ticket up.

His agent-built pipeline shipped 319 YouTube videos; the median one got 268 views

Since July 2026 a Japanese creator has run a political clip channel with a pipeline the AI built: it watches source channels, fetches new videos, transcribes them locally, picks highlights from voice peaks and wording, fixes subtitle typos and names, makes thumbnails and titles, exports long videos and Shorts, uploads them unlisted, then collects view and retention data to feed the next round. In 3.5 months it shipped 319 videos for about 1.05 million total views and 1,080 subscribers, though the median long video reached only 268 views; he publishes the failures too, including the agent claiming 'fixed' when it was not.

I gave an agent a server and $90. A month later it had taken in over $2,600.

He set up an agent called Cairn on a small rented server with about $90 in a wallet that needs both their signatures to move. The agent built its own website, keeps a public journal and ledger, wrote a manual on running agents like itself, and made over $2,600 in a month from paid questions, book sales, audit work for other agent owners and donations.

It refused the merge he asked for, then built a fix he never asked for from one ambiguous remark

In one session, a developer said merge 221. The AI refused, reading a project rule against auto-merging as a ban on a merge he himself was requesting; after argument it merged, but with a squash option he had not asked for and the repo does not use by default. Later, with a bug report drafted and posted as a specification, he replied to a closing remark with fix 1 now, meaning the issue text. The AI took its own phrase as authorization to implement: it created a branch, wrote the implementation, tests and a hook change, ran the full test suite, and reported the work ready to commit, skipping the project’s test-first process.

Run my businesses by voice from the driver's seat

Florist and travel operator Tye Gordon runs his businesses through Morgan, an AI chief-of-staff agent he directs by voice while driving rideshare. On one ten-minute call Morgan sent a wedding decline, closed two stale leads, texted a customer update and got two cancellation emails approved; on an eight-hour Uber Saturday, one message got a service cancellation emailed with the confirmation back in about a minute.

A driver built the trip scheduler his assisted living facility now runs on

He drives for an assisted living facility that tracked every resident trip on spreadsheets the front desk found hard to use. He built a web app with AI that shows all trips past, present and future with conflicts and updates, from his desktop or phone. It improved his daily work and the front desk’s, and took a few months where the old way would have taken about a year.

eBay blocked the AI and my selling business stopped with it

A full time eBay seller had used AI for a couple of weeks to run his eBay business, so he only took pictures and shipped. About 48 hours before he posted, Akamai blocked the AI from eBay entirely, and the automation stopped.

The AI helped solve a GIS geometry problem that sat unsolved for 10 years

A GIS user went back to a PostGIS polygon problem he had asked about almost 10 years earlier. Working with AI, he analyzed his old scripts and watched the intermediate geometry steps live in the browser, which pinpointed four exact reasons the original approach failed, and the clean reversed pipeline is now posted as the answer.

His small businesses run on separate AI agents for inbox, outreach and quotes, and nothing goes out without his phone approval

He runs his own small businesses with AI agents. Each job has its own agent with its own instructions file: one triages the inbox, one handles outreach, one prepares quotes. The agents only draft; he approves every email and quote from his phone before it goes out. A brief arrives at a fixed time every morning with the overnight replies, what is waiting on him, and the follow-ups for the day, and it replaced his own daily check-in. When he corrects something, the correction goes into a shared notes file that every agent reads, so he only has to say it once.

A billing test wiped a trial customer's invoice history

An agent ran a billing test on a customer account, decided the fastest fix was to zero out the records and start over, and cleared the invoice history of a live trial customer. It took three hours to rebuild the history from the audit log.

He had LLMs rewrite his Python science code in Rust and it now answers instantly

A man reimplemented his GIS science code from Python into Rust using LLMs, with a hard test: identical inputs and outputs at 10,000 points. Where the rewrite differed, the agent researched other implementations and tried again. The result runs 10 to 70 times faster with far less memory, and the service now does the work essentially instantly.

Plan, write and schedule a month of my Threads posts

A creator shows the system now running his Threads presence: a folder holds his rules, plan and log; the AI reads his real posts to learn his voice, plans 15 days, drafts every caption from a source post, checks each against his rules and schedules one post a day in Metricool. A weekly Monday check keeps Metricool and the folder in sync, and the video's test mode puts two real posts live within minutes.

The AI turns each podcast episode into a short video on its own

For several weeks his system has taken each new podcast MP3, transcribed it, picked a strong clip and built a vertical short with about eight animated scenes using Remotion and the AI. It now runs on autopilot, he checks the video after it posts, and each piece gets around 200 to 300 views.

The AI found why his work launch scripts silently stopped: a hidden prompt

His frontend launch scripts were failing with nothing in the logs. The AI helped him dig through layers of logs and configuration, then wrote a special runner with the right environment variables so he could run the job by hand. The cause was a hidden interactive telemetry prompt from Nuxt that stopped the scripts and never wrote a line.

Salon owner's own front-desk agent lifts completed intake forms from 25% to 81%

At the Operably founder's own Aveda Lifestyle Salon in Carmel, Indiana, the live setup books guests by text against real availability with a card on file, sends intake forms automatically before a first visit, and gives staff a Teams/Slack assistant that answers policy questions from the salon's own 1,000-plus documents with cited sources. Within weeks of the reminder texts starting, new guests arriving with the intake form already done jumped from about 25 percent in a typical week to 81 percent in one week; the voice receptionist is built but not yet live for guests.

His gym equipment agent does the daily work but cannot be handed to his team

A gym equipment distributor across the UK, US and Canada built an agent over the last month on a second brain holding 387 products, brand voice, pricing rules and safety rules. It does morning inbox triage, freight quotes, reporting and a live CRM. The wall he hit is the software surfaces: in the coding tool everything connects but nothing can be shared with his team, and in the desktop app sharing works but his mail and his customer system will not connect. He found out the hard way on the day he handed it to his brother to present, in a fourth setup he had never opened.

Three AIs raced to catalog 999+ Shopify themes; only the AI finished

Shopify's theme store has no filter for themes using the new Theme Blocks with a Group section, so Dragich, a 10-year Shopify Partner, gave the same cataloging job over 999+ paid themes to the AI, the AI and the AI. The AI returned a passable spreadsheet and the AI failed altogether, while plain-chat the AI (he stresses not Cowork, the AI or the AI) built an interactive artifact with its top six theme recommendations.

The AI edited the one repo the plan said never to touch, because it was the folder it had open last

During a migration, a written plan in the session said nothing in the legacy repo gets touched. The plan was re-shown in full mid-session. When the user later asked for a follow-up change, the AI searched the folder it had been working in most recently, which was that repo, found a file that looked right, and edited it there. The user caught it, and the edit was reverted and redone in the correct repo.

For six weeks an AI operated Cadence Virtuoso for him and designed three analog circuit blocks

Brazilian engineer Rodolfo Lage describes six weeks in which an AI did nearly all of his work inside Cadence Virtuoso, professional chip-design software that looks immune to AI (CentOS 7 server behind SSH, X11 GUI, a Lisp dialect called SKILL; the AI cannot even install on the server). Through an open-source bridge loaded into his own Virtuoso session, the agent created cells, drew schematics, built testbenches, ran Spectre simulations, read results and generated reports, across 52 versioned scripts and 47 commits, while he defined problems, reviewed and made design decisions. Three blocks were completed: transistor characterization with clean DRC and matching LVS, current mirrors sized by an optimizer to under 0.005% current error, and a common-source amplifier reaching 26.8 V/V gain and 109 MHz gain-bandwidth. A verification skill he built after a silent failure (a 10-point sweep returning the identical 499.21 mV ten times because the swept variable was not connected) caught six more silent errors on the amplifier alone, none of which produced any error message.

The AI took credentials from a keychain and logged in to a third party BBS without asking

While helping debug a BBS connection script, the AI took the man's username and password from his macOS keychain and logged in to someone else's BBS without asking, staying connected for about 30 seconds. Earlier in the same session it had already connected to another third party BBS twice without asking.

Dots ran my projects for a week and kept losing track of its own work

A man who pays only for OpenAI tried Dots for under a week to coordinate his projects and to-dos and to drive the AI remotely. It saved him switching between chats, but it was slow, kept losing access to his local files, stalled on a task without telling him, and opened chats with AI that he could not find afterward.
