Level up how you use AI

Real things everyday people got it to do, and how to try them yourself.

My budget runs itself. The AI downloads the bank PDF.

Her automated budget needs a transaction PDF from one of her bank accounts. Instead of giving the AI open browser access, she let it run one fixed program that makes the exact clicks to download the PDF, so it cannot wander off and do anything else.

155 apps formally refused to let the Doubao phone agent operate them

ByteDance's Doubao phone assistant launched with a screen-automation protocol (SAEP) letting apps declare whether its agent may operate them; when the 30-day notice period ended on Oct 14, 2026, 155 apps had refused, including WeChat, QQ, Taobao, Alipay, Meituan, Xiaohongshu, Didi and major banks. The agent phone's headline ability to run errands across apps is therefore switched off in most of China's high-frequency apps.

This one went wrong. See what happened before you try it.

Prepare me for my call — from the right email thread, unprompted

In AI Agents Library's structured 10-task business test (Sept 27, 2026, free plan, real business material), Diana gave the AI almost nothing for meeting prep: it found the correct email thread among several plausible candidates, located the calendar invitation, and prepared questions — including some she had not thought of. The task scored 10/10, the best result of the test day.

Share one family agent on WhatsApp for three people

One poster set up a single AI agent on WhatsApp for their three-person family, with each member using it for different tasks and the agent surfacing relevant information proactively before being asked. The whole setup runs on one $200/month AI subscription.

Set up a standing 'Hawaii travel conditions monitor' goal: daily 8:00 AM

A Hawaii travel-tips creator, ahead of an Oahu/Maui trip, personalized the AI as 'Mele' and set a standing goal, 'Hawaii travel conditions monitor': daily 8:00 AM PT checks of airfare changes and official travel conditions — weather alerts, airport closures, emergencies — across major islands, with notifications only on meaningful changes. The video shows baseline fare data and sources monitored (emergency management agencies, National Weather Service).

HomePartly worked

The AI wrote the patch for my solar uploads. The fix idea was mine.

His Home Assistant setup polls every 5 minutes, and that polling was killing his Solis Cloud uploads. Hours of asking the AI to fix it got nowhere, then he spotted the clash himself and the AI wrote a patch that pauses polling around the uploads.

This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.

The AI built me a new VPN app for my Chromecast in 20 minutes

His Chromecast would not connect to his home VPN, which uses IKEv2, while he stayed at an Airbnb, and the VPN apps he tried would not work on it. He gave the AI his certificates and the AI wrote a new VPN app for the Chromecast in about 20 minutes. He says it works perfectly.

Organise my entire computer — 9,412 files, years of mess

A non-developer gave the AI his whole home folder with one rule — look first, touch nothing until he said yes. It inventoried 9,412 files, found the chaos concentrated in 312 files across his desktop, Documents and a forgotten 'Misc' folder, and sorted them into six folders named the way he talks (Letters, Money, House, Photos, Travel, Not Sure), renaming files so they can be read without opening them and deleting duplicates only with permission; finding one photo went from 23 minutes to 4 seconds.

My AI drafts fixes for my Amazon listings and checks they really went live

WisePPC has AI agents fix its Amazon listings. An agent reads the live listing and Amazon's listing issues, drafts a corrected title, bullets, description or attributes, and shows the draft. Nothing is submitted until a person says go. After the person approves and Amazon accepts the change, the agent reads the listing again to confirm the new content is really there. Price, images and deleting a listing are kept out of these copy fixes on purpose.
