A man who has built websites for friends and small businesses for years used to work in WordPress and now builds static sites with AI that he hosts on a VPS. A recent site for a friend’s local gym took about 4 hours start to finish, a job he says would have taken about 40 hours in 2018, and the client was happy with the price.
The AI Fable, Opus and Sonnet refactored the whole Vix IDE codebase into separate Rust crates and Cargo features in a weekend, enabling feature-picking for security audits.
A mathematician with more than a dozen finished but never submitted papers pulled out four of them and shared them with AI. The AI caught errors, built a spreadsheet comparing his new concepts against related papers, converted plain TeX to LaTeX, wrote abstracts he adopted almost word for word, and fixed bibliography entries unprompted. All four papers improved to the point where he submitted them.
Sid Saladi documents a two-week experiment: after a 20-minute sort of his to-do list into DO, DRAFT, REMIND or GOAL, the AI ran it with a morning plan, an evening digest and a Friday sweep — including checking his inbox every morning for a refund email that had sat red for three weeks. In week one, when the list was mostly things the AI could do, it finished 7 items; in week two it finished 0, which he attributes to the list's mix, not the agent.
This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.
His team has to produce a set of documents from one large main document. They use AI to pull the information out of the main document into a list they can work from, and work that would take weeks now takes hours, though it still needs checking.
Constraints: zero ad budget, no existing audience, ~4 hrs/week of human time; assets: a subdomain, Cloudflare access, DodoPayments. Ruled out: custom AI songs, mixing/mastering services, automated day trading, 'information arbitrage'.
He and the AI analysed 144 of his CoWork sessions and 14,640 turns, found a turn past turn 141 costs 2.1x an early turn, and stopped batching sessions as a result.
