Non-engineer office worker's first the AI trial: sorting a folder of inconsistently named files by goal, not steps

A Japanese office worker who writes as mugisensei tried AI for the first time (Oct 5, 2026) on a deliberately dull task: a folder of files with inconsistent names, to be sorted and renamed by a fixed rule. Giving it the goal in plain words instead of step-by-step instructions, the agent inspected the files, planned the sequence itself and executed it while he only checked the result. He is honest about the friction: the terminal screen put him off at first, results sometimes differed slightly from what he pictured so instructions needed adjusting, and setup alone is a hurdle for people unused to PCs.

This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.

Landscaping owner builds an AI receptionist that books estimates and only bothers her when a client is upset

Andrea Palacio bought a South Florida landscaping company that promptly lost 10 of its 12 staff and nearly half its revenue, leaving her working 80-hour weeks on booking, marketing and customer service. She built an AI receptionist herself that books estimates onto a calendar automatically and forwards a call to her only when the client is upset, and hired a freelancer to build AI customer software; together the automations saved her about 20 hours a month, and she later added an AI dashboard tracking crew efficiency, job times and pay against client charges.

The AI set up my Twitch profile for me

He had the AI set up his Twitch profile and says it does not look too bad. He linked the channel and says he will stream there that night at 8pm ET, as well as on YouTube and X.

Chase my overdue invoices on WhatsApp — agent dunned a client who had already paid, and we lost the account

Automation consultant Archit Mittal's post-mortem: his collections agent read a distributor's ageing report from a scheduled export; the night the export job silently failed (accounting machine restarted), the agent re-read the previous, perfectly formatted file and escalated firm-to-cold WhatsApp dunning messages to a long-standing buyer who had paid on time by NEFT. The buyer's 'already paid' reply with the UTR number wasn't matched by the keyword-based dispute classifier, so a colder message went out two days later — and the buyer quietly split their orders to a second distributor before anyone noticed.

This one went wrong. See what happened before you try it.

My AI checks my Amazon ads every morning and queues the fixes

The WisePPC team sells on Amazon under its own brands. Every morning an AI reads the account health check and the change history in WisePPC and sends a short Telegram message: which campaigns hit their budget early, which advertised product went out of stock, and which bids changed the night before. It then queues proposed bid cuts and pauses, with its reasons, for a person to approve or decline. Nothing goes to Amazon without that approval.

Grade my call-center team's calls and coach every operator daily

In the same CEO's US business line, an agent reviews the call-center operators' calls, transcripts and CRM results every day, then writes the human supervisor's task list with numbers and deadlines and sends each operator 3–4 small skills to fix from their own recent calls. Each skill is marked pass or fail every evening and closes after three consecutive passes; the agent only suggests — people decisions stay with people.
