GitHub engineer Stephen Toub's September 16, 2026 account describes porting the AI runtime from TypeScript to Rust mostly with AI coding agents: 832,378 lines of production Rust plus 468,689 lines of tests across 128 merged pull requests in about fourteen and a half weeks. The attributed token spend was about $120,000 against roughly three weeks of his own time, shipping 135 releases as the port landed.
Glossaries for his Moodle course used to be a lot of work for a poor payoff. The AI made matching XML for them and he had it in the course in 2 minutes, with only the proofreading left to do himself.
He is a sales manager who does not code. In five weeks he built a system that connects the AI to his CRM, Microsoft 365, his reMarkable and his Plaud recorder. It tracks meetings and calls, updates his todo list, drafts follow ups and puts them in his calendar, imports business cards, prepares quotations, keeps the CRM updated with meeting reports, benchmarks his prices against competitors, sends personalised mailings, and every night reads the day's email and prepares a recap of the next day.
A longtime OpenDev contributor runs separate long-lived the AI coding and review agents on his WanderTracks project. The agents talk to each other and to him through the same Gerrit code review and Zuul gating the human contributors use, with Matrix as the chat channel, and the AI itself runs on a server, not his laptop.
The same business owner runs AI on a weekly cycle for search traffic. It scans competitor sites for the keywords he tracks, compares his own pages against them, suggests changes, and finds and puts in internal linking fixes itself.
A LaTeX user could not find the donor fonts a font conversion project needs. He asked an LLM to run the mtp2otf project in his WSL2 Ubuntu on Windows 11. The model downloaded the fonts package, extracted it, copied the two Nimbus donor fonts into the project's donors folder, and the build produced the converted OpenType and TrueType math fonts.
He built an AI news app with AI. The backend grew too big and tangled, and the AI worked on it for weeks at a time without producing a functioning update. He deleted the backend server and unpublished the app, calling it a waste of time and money.

An engineer at Sumasate writes that his team connected the AI Tag to GitHub, Sentry, their database, log tools and Notion, and let it do the first look at every alert in Slack. After three months, fixes finished inside alert handling went from about 2 of 38 alerts a month (5.3 percent) to about 7 of 44 (15.9 percent).
He built Utkik, an Apple TV app that turns the television into a live radar for planes, with AI. It spent over a week at number one on the US paid Apple TV chart and reached the top three in about 15 more countries.
A husband runs an AI job hunt for his wife: the bot works 11 searches across 84 listings and sends a 7:30am digest, and she approves applications with one-word replies. The search runs daily without either of them opening a job board.
