He wanted a control monitor to fit under his screen and follow the angle and shape of his Stream Deck. He uses AI with reference photos to get the base shape, adjusts sizes after measuring with a caliper, printed a quick baseplate to test the fit, and fixed a 1mm clearance problem with the lock after more measuring.
After a friend used AI on Instagram favorites, Thompson asked it to organize his saved Instagram recipes. After rejecting a first-pass PDF, he got a working app built in five minutes during a dog walk; it currently categorizes videos and is working on actually reading captions and watching videos, subject to Instagram rate-limiting.
This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.
A developer built Idea Leash on an AI profile running locally on his Mac: he sends a podcast link by Telegram before a walk, and the agent transcribes it, writes notes into his markdown wiki and prepares a five-question quiz. After four real walks it had logged 7.66 km, nine voice ideas and sent after-walk summaries with web searches for ideas he dictated.
He left Wix and had the AI build his own blog, with AI in Chrome doing the setup clicks in Azure, GitHub and DNS. The new blog went live on 17 September 2026 with all eleven old posts moved across, and since then it has had about a hundred updates and four new posts from him.
He is not a programmer, but he used AI to trace a bug through localization files, tech scripts and the game's internal category system. The AI hotfixed a deprecated modifier key in his Clausewitz engine mod, and he shipped a working patch in 30 minutes.
A man learning language design spent 3 to 4 weeks with AI doing a full mechanization in Lean of the paper From Linearity to Borrowing. The work covers nearly every definition and lemma in the paper, including the Fundamental Property and Adequacy results.
Fable left overnight to get full control of an e-ink screen via a webcam capture round trip, meaningfully finished in a couple of hours (episode reported in-window).
He is a photographer who found typing alt text for every photo slow going. He built a small agent on his own n8n server: he sends a photo through an Apple shortcut, the agent reads the picture with a local Qwen model, adds the camera data, and saves the finished alt text in an Obsidian note, ten photos at a time.
Eric Siu (verified, 120K followers) demonstrated the AI’s Instagram integration reading his bookmarks and follow graph, then generating batches of tailored video outlines — '60-Second Playbook,' 'Story Cut,' 'Debate Cut' — each with hooks, TL;DR lines, talking points, editor notes, and links to past successful reels. He said it replaced a full-time person's scripting-research role.
