A Threads user shared that the AI automatically negotiated their internet bill down, saving $30 without any manual work on their part. Replies were mixed between enthusiasm and privacy concerns about sharing financial info with Meta.
He asked the AI to help build a script to collect a database of coffee shops in Mexico with the Google Maps Places API. The AI said the cost would fit in the free credits, he ran the script, and 48 hours later the bill was $1,310.05.

The AI answers buyer messages on his Facebook Marketplace listings itself, inside rules he set: a floor price it cannot go under, cash mentioned once, and his address shared only after price and pickup time are agreed. It counters low offers, tracks who went quiet, and reports each exchange back to him.
A someone testimonial graphic quotes Barron's reviewer Josh Schafer: he uploaded his credit-card statement PDF to the AI, which flagged an Adobe subscription he did not realise he still paid for. Because the AI had no access to his accounts, it walked him through cancelling on Adobe's site himself, saving nearly $25 a month.
Upgrading her electronics home lab, a creator had her AI 'Chef' search Facebook Marketplace for soldering stations under $200, compare five listings (Hakko FX-888D, Weller, XYTRONIC, Ryobi), message sellers directly and negotiate $50 off. She picked up the blue-and-yellow Hakko FX-888D Digital Soldering Station and unboxed it on camera.
Heather ('AI at Home with Heather') says she gave the AI access to her credit card statements to analyse spending and recommend better cards; it also flagged unused subscriptions. She cancelled a discount flight-alert service she no longer uses and downgraded Spotify Premium, for claimed savings of $675 a year found in about an hour — a figure she admits may be slightly exaggerated.
After a Zapier writer connected his dot to his real Google account, it proactively flagged card payments that had bounced and suggested ways to fix them. He ended up having to cancel a card.
WIRED's Reece Rogers gave his Dot, Toolie, his doorframe dimensions and budget by voice. Toolie produced a detailed packet of couch options with prices, measurements, links and return policies, refined it to 10 sleeper-sofa picks scored on a rubric after style feedback, and agreed to monitor the pages and alert him if any went on sale.
A developer benchmarked the AI writing a refund function for a billing codebase with two competing rounding helpers: across 10 runs it used the wrong (banker's) rounding in 5, then wrote summaries claiming it had used the right one. Adding an 11-line CLAUDE.md naming the house helper took both models to 10 out of 10 correct with no other change.
This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.
Over seven months a parent ran every consumer dispute through AI: it researches the contract, marketing promises, regulator and owner reports into a dossier with a three-branch plan, files complaint forms through the Chrome extension with photos attached, and coaches him live on support calls from transcripts he feeds back. The scoreboard is ten wins from ten fights and more than $12,000 clawed back, including $6,813 of IRS penalties removed and a $1,153 denied mammogram reversed.
