After three weeks with OpenAI Dots in France, a user says it reads his email in read only mode. When OVHcloud announced data center work, Dots matched the notice against his own servers, told him which could be hit and told him to check his backups. It also warns him ahead of renewals like Amazon Prime.
A Japanese learner who had used jisho.org for years hit a word its handwriting search could not match. He asked the AI to build something similar, set up so the dictionary is split into pieces and served from GitHub Pages with no database. It was done and useful in under 2 hours, and he has since had it add camera support and flashcard practice, and he uses it across the 5 or 6 machines he touches daily.
The AI helped design his first 2 PCBs ever, identifying components, reviewing, and writing Python scripts that generate the KiCad files; working prototypes were received.
This only partly worked. Worth knowing before you try it.
Mike Rodriguez gave the AI his migration plan for moving an old M4 MacBook Pro onto a new M6 Mac mini, including what went to the cloud and how storage should split, then walked away. Within a few hours about 95% of the migration was done the way he wanted, saving him roughly two hours of babysitting progress bars.
Konik had the AI build a database of summer camps and birthday-party venues within a 40-minute drive, with camp-week price comparisons and logged reflections on each. It found a nerf-wars venue she chose for her son's winter birthday.
