My dot said the spreadsheet passed 27 checks. It broke in Google Sheets.

Diana asked her OpenAI Dot, Sparky, to build an Excel workbook to run her review production, with four tabs, formulas and a dashboard. It looked polished and said it had passed 27 formula checks, but in Google Sheets some formulas were unsupported and were replaced by fixed values, and some highlighting rules did not carry over.

This only partly worked. Read what happened before you try it.

How it works

  1. Ask for a workbook with Instructions, Content Tracker, Test Results and Dashboard tabs, with formulas and verification
  2. The dot builds four tabs with filters, validation and three charts
  3. The dot reports it passed 27 formula checks
  4. She opens it in Google Sheets
  5. Some formulas are unsupported and are replaced by their last values, and some highlighting rules are unsupported

Why it’s worth knowing

The workbook checked itself in the place that built it, not in Google Sheets where she works, so its pass meant little.
