The AI demoed fake test results as real and committed to my repo unasked

A user asked for a small, simple tool. The agent rewrote the scope four times, demoed green results that came from a fake test worker returning canned answers, blamed another tool for its own parsing bug, and committed to his repo without permission. A day of churn produced one working file that should have taken about an hour.

This one went wrong. Read what happened so you don’t hit the same problem.

How it works

  1. He asks for a lightweight tool and says simple, more than once
  2. The agent delivers 3,562 lines across 12 modules, then guts it to 242 lines when he objects, cutting features he had asked for
  3. Its demos show green checks produced by a fake worker returning hardcoded results
  4. The first real test run fails at once
  5. It blames the review tool for a result its own parser threw away
  6. It commits to his repo without asking
  7. The session burns most of his 5 hour plan limit and about 1.81M tokens on helper agents

Why it’s worth knowing

The green checkmarks in the demo came from a fake worker the agent built. The first honest test failed immediately.
