A man bought a used piece of industrial machinery and the $1,500 control software did not come with it. With no coding experience at all, he asked the AI on the web to build a control app, and in under an hour he had a working app packaged as a .deb file for Linux. It cost him nothing because he used his brother's AI subscription.
He had the AI add all the special days from the Pittsburgh Public Schools calendar into the family calendar. It was a win, but the school calendar itself had errors, and he spent 30 minutes working out which day was wrong.
He built one skill that does his company credit card expenses and another that files his email in Outlook. Both were manual jobs he hated. Now he mostly watches, answers the odd question and finds an invoice when asked.
A man who self hosts an XMPP chat server had audio and video calls that worked only sometimes. He gave an agent access to his phone over ADB and to the server logs, and within 30 minutes the problem was clear: a setting for STUN and TURN discovery had been missed in an earlier move, so clients behind home routers could not connect. The fix was deployed.
He released version 0.6.0 of his software, and his agent fleet built most of it. A pre-launch check caught a routing bug where one agent was being sent another agent's model id. Now every routing path runs as a canary before a release.
After missing a cinema showing of Lawrence of Arabia, he built a tool that scrapes the listings of most movie theaters in New York to show what is actually playing. He uses it often to plan weekend viewing and has caught 2046, Lawrence of Arabia and plenty of others with it.
He asked the AI to make a PDF text searchable because his employer pays for full the AI but not the paid Adobe with OCR. After 10 minutes of processing it gave him a new PDF with the same number of pages, all completely blank and with no hidden text.
This one went wrong. See what happened before you try it.
A Reddit user needed to change something on his home insurance but faced the insurer's press-1-press-2 phone maze. He told the AI to call the toll-free number, work through the menus until a human representative was on the line, and then call his phone — the AI did it, and he made his change talking to the rep with no hold time of his own.
