The AI found a never saved Pages document in the iCloud cache

A Mac user deleted a Pages document by mistake before ever saving it, so it was not in the Trash or Time Machine. The AI searched the whole disk, including iCloud cache files, and located a copy in the CloudKit cache folder, and the document was recovered.

How it works

  1. He runs AI from the root of the disk
  2. He gives it what the document was about and exact phrases he remembers
  3. It searches the whole Mac including iCloud files
  4. Grep fails because the cached copy is semi encrypted
  5. It locates the document content file in the CloudKit cache
  6. He gets the document back

Why it’s worth knowing

The file was never saved, so normal recovery had nothing to find. The agent knew to look inside the iCloud sync cache, among hundreds of unnamed files.
